DCEF Background
Douglas County Education Foundation was incorporated as a tax-exempt, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) corporation in 1984. (See BYLAWS at this link). Since our inception, we have raised and distributed almost half a million dollars, thanks to overwhelming community and local business support. We use this money to fund grants that enable Douglas County teachers to implement unique, exciting, and enriching projects affecting all of the public schools in our district. We also honor our teachers who have been selected by their peers as outstanding educators. We provide an annual recognition luncheon, Golden Apple classroom bells for each recipient, and site-specific wall plaques honoring the Teachers of the Year for each school.
